SOPREMA’s success couldn’t happen without the contributions of all employees. SOPREMA’s biggest strength is its team, and nothing is more important than the health and safety of every member of that team. This is why, in 2008, the company implemented its health, safety and wellness policy. This program includes initiatives covering four aspects: smoking cessation, nutrition, work–life balance, and physical activity.
Each component of the program includes a series of activities offered to all employees. For example, they are invited to participate in a number of initiatives, such as the Quit-to-Win Challenge, Québec Tobacco-Free Week, and various health challenges. Moreover, each month, fruit is distributed to all employees.
All employees must attend a conference on workplace harassment. Also, SOPREMA regularly recruits guest speakers to provide training on a variety of topics such as motivation, self-esteem, and team work.
Physical activity occupies a prominent place at SOPREMA, which is why there is a sports complex in the workplace. Employees can benefit from a free training room with cutting-edge equipment, a squash court, and physical-activity courses, all supervised by kinesiology trainees.
The company organizes, with the help of employees and the social committee, various social and sporting activities, such as hockey tournaments, curling, volleyball, soccer, dragon boating, golfing, hiking, and family challenges.
