Mental Health at Work

The Mental Health at Work® (MH@W) is a progressive program that has been developed in four levels to make it easier for organizations to implement the requirements using a staged approach.

By implementing these MH@W requirements, an organization is also satisfying the requirements of the national standard for Psychological Health and Safety in the workplace, as the two programs are aligned.

The materials include the requirements, a Guide, and assessment worksheets.

For level 1, Excellence Canada requires an application only, describing how the organization meets the Requirements at that level. For Levels 2 – 4, an application as well as a site visit will be required. A team of professionals will visit the organization for one or two days, depending on the scope and size of the application. As well, an on-line staff survey will be required by Excellence Canada. The intention of this brief survey is to ensure broad participation at a basic level to support the verification process.

Canada Awards for Excellence

Organizations that successfully achieve the Mental Health at Work® PEP Levels 2, 3 and 4 are eligible for Bronze, Silver and Gold awards.

Organizations that have successfully implemented the National Standard for Psychological health and safety in the workplace may apply directly for the award. Download the requirements here.
