Lorraine Glendenning

Lorraine Glendenning is responsible for strategic planning, performance management, employee engagement and corporate services across Service Nova Scotia and Internal Services, a large department employing 1,700 in locations across Nova Scotia. A key element of this work is SNSIS’ Excellence Canada certification, Our Excellence Journey. She also leads corporate initiatives associated with service excellence, employee engagement, wellness and belonging, diversity, equity and inclusion, continuous improvement, and innovation management.

Lorraine has extensive experience as a strategic thinker in public sector organizations in Canada and in Ireland. She joined Service Nova Scotia and Internal Services in 2015 from Nova Scotia Treasury Board Office. Previously she worked with the provincial department of Economic and Rural Development on trade policy, and led numerous trade missions to China and Europe.

Before she moved to Canada in 2005, Lorraine was employed by the Department of An Taoiseach (Prime Minister’s Office) at the National Centre for Partnership and Performance. She was National Director, Training, Facilitation and Communications, and supported the negotiations that led to Ireland’s first National Workplace Strategy in 2005.

Lorraine graduated from Trinity College Dublin with an M.A. (Dubl.) in English and History of Art.  Over the years, she also completed post-graduate studies in Arts Administration, Business Studies, Human Resource Management, and Workplace Innovation. She is currently undertaking a Master Gardener course at Dalhousie University, through the Nova Scotia Agricultural College.

Lorraine is a stepmother to two adults and recently took on the role of grandmother.  She lives near the ocean with her husband and two dogs.  Being able to walk along the shore each afternoon has been a great privilege in these unprecedented times.
