Canada Awards for Excellence

Recipient Profile

Baxter Corporation,
Alliston Manufacturing
Facility

2017 Gold Recipient
Excellence, Innovation and Wellness®

Serving 850 institutions and more than 5,000 home dialysis patients across Canada, Baxter’s Alliston manufacturing facility is the only large-scale manufacturing plant in Canada producing life-sustaining intravenous and dialysis solutions.

The facility won its first Canada Award for Excellence in 1996 and has continued its excellence journey ever since. In 2011, it adopted Baxter’s global Enterprise Management System (EMS) which has helped drive a culture of continuous improvement and problem solving, including core Business Excellence Principles. Self-assessments against established criteria are completed quarterly, and annual improvement targets are determined. Various global facilities share, learn, benchmark and calibrate. Since 2015, key elements of the EMS have been further refined with a much greater focus on integration to ensure a cohesive and sustainable management system that achieves business results.
