Toronto Police Service Achieves Gold-Level Recognition for Mental Health at Work

On March 4, 2025, Excellence Canada President Sean Slater was honoured to attend the Toronto Police Service Board meeting to present the Canada Award for Excellence – Gold Level in Mental Health at Work to Chief Myron Demkiw, TPS Board Chair Shelley Carroll, Chief Administrative Officer Svina Dhaliwal, and the dedicated team leading mental health initiatives at Toronto Police Service (TPS).

This recognition marks a significant achievement, as TPS is the first police service in Canada to receive this prestigious award. Their commitment to fostering a healthy, supportive, and resilient workplace sets a new standard for law enforcement agencies across the country.

Prioritizing mental health is essential in any workplace, but especially in policing, where members face unique and high-pressure challenges daily. Through leadership, innovation, and dedication, TPS has developed programs and initiatives that promote well-being, reduce stigma, and ensure that officers and staff have access to the mental health resources they need.

We congratulate the entire Toronto Police Service team on this outstanding accomplishment. Your dedication to mental health excellence not only benefits your organization but serves as an inspiring example for workplaces nationwide.
