Mental Health at Work
The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is Canada’s largest mental health teaching hospital and one of the world’s leading research centres in its field. CAMH advocates on public policy issues at all levels of government and recently launched its Mental Health is Health advocacy campaign on television and bus shelters across the Greater Toronto Area, as well as on social media. By focusing on the biggest gaps in our health care system – science, justice and advocacy – the ambitious campaign hopes to end the stigma surrounding mental health.
In January 2013, CAMH became one of the first hospitals to adopt the Mental Health Commission of Canada’s new National Standard for Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace. This has led CAMH to create strategies and programs for staff, such as a Wellness Centre and an onsite Psychological Service.
CAMH’s Mental Health is Health awareness campaign is featured in bus shelters across the Greater Toronto Area.
“CAMH is thrilled to receive this designation from Excellence Canada in recognition of our efforts to create a workplace that promotes both safety and wellness. As a high-performing organization dedicated to continuous quality improvement, CAMH is creating a world-class destination to learn and teach and a therapeutic environment for our patients to heal and recover.”
