Canada Awards for Excellence

Recipient Profile

Law Society of Ontario, Corporate Services Division

2018 Silver Recipient
Excellence, Innovation and Wellness

The Law Society of Ontario regulates Ontario’s legal professions in the public interest. Its Corporate Services division provides a wide range of services to both internal and external Law Society clients. Departments include Facilities and Planning, Catering, Client Service Centre, Human Resources, Corporate Resource & Training Centre and Information Technologies.

The division’s excellence journey began nearly 20 years ago, following the Law Society’s creation of a centralized Client Service Centre (CSC) which ultimately attained Gold certification under Excellence Canada’s Progressive Excellence Program in 2015. That experience proved a valuable guide in understanding EIW drivers, assessing the division’s readiness, and taking measures to close existing gaps. Today, the division nurtures a positive organizational culture marked by a commitment to work-life balance, innovation, Green initiatives, voluntarism, many wellness initiatives and resources, and opportunities for advancement and growth.

“We have enjoyed a long and productive relationship with Excellence Canada. By regularly analyzing our progress via the PEP (and more recently through the EIW), we are able to apply criteria that allow us to objectively assess our strengths and opportunities as part of our commitment to continual improvement. “
