TBS-CAC
For more than a decade, Carleton University has taken an intentional approach to supporting the well-being and mental health of its faculty and staff and, in 2019, launched a comprehensive Healthy Workplace Strategic Plan. On an ongoing basis, Carleton hosts several workshops, events and training opportunities tailored to the needs of its community, including the newly developed Workplace Mental Health for Managers Workshop and the Mindfulness Workshop Series with a clinical psychologist. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Carleton moved all offerings online and provided additional virtual support for faculty and staff. The cross-functional Healthy Workplace Committee and Champions, enthusiastic ambassadors of the Healthy Workplace initiative, bring workplace wellness to the forefront of daily life, ensuring it’s embedded within the culture at Carleton University. Beyond Carleton’s campus, our Healthy Workplace initiative is sought out as a best practice by organizations and other post-secondary institutions.

“Carleton University’s Healthy Workplace culture has been the foundation that our community continues to rely on to weather these most challenging times. For example, by creating spaces for faculty and staff to connect with each other, and by offering tailored workshops, our Healthy Workplace strategy helped to foster our resilience. We are thrilled to receive the Order of Excellence in Healthy Workplace and Platinum certification in Mental Health at Work, confirming our position as a proud national leader.”
